Surprised by the high rating of this film from critics. It makes it honor. Okay a rating of viewers — is, the end is not read the Chekhov play, not saw theatrical productions. Or read in a bad translation and as a result, nothing to understand.

But the critic is obliged to understand the advantages and disadvantages of film adaptation of the great dramatic works.

Do not claim to the status of the critics, but not saw the first, but the second just kill Chekhov.

I remember a very good home movie, "Success," focuses on how in a provincial theatre put "the Seagull." There Director (Leonid Filatov) convinces actors that the play — about love. Not directly, through overcoming he ensure that they are imbued with its creative idea and really play on the stage of LOVE.

In the film, Mayer your love is quite. The characters are trying to portray love and passion, but faith neither of a penny. Very bad casting creates an anti-love — well, it is impossible to fall in love with this is Trigorin, in this Nina in this mandrel! The actors play one worse than the other, Corey Stoll from the image of Trigorin on a distance of several light years, bald, fat, overgrown beard a La Statham, meaty nose and without the slightest glimmer of talent. Not believe Benning-Arkadina, with surprisingly hard face and obvious brute force ball busting. As or not, in 60 years to play the role may be only a very talented actress, to which Annette never attitude that at the time proved the ruin role of Julia Lambert. But in the first shots — sex scene between Arkadina and Trigorin, and a few minutes naked Kostya Treplev jumps with bridges to swim.

Billy hole and saoirse Ronan a couple moved into  the"Seagull" of the film "On the beach" and scenes they were together, you catch yourself on thought that look at the sequel to the weird story. the female frigidity. But if Billy is playing a bit better then saoirse is playing bad enough that brings cheekbones, and Chekhov probably turned over in his grave.

The incompetence of the Director was especially evident in the image of the lake, the most important element of the plot. Here just the superiority of film in front of the theatre — there are tools to show the magical charm of such a background for the development of the drama. Mayer not used, so that do not understand — the Seagull where it came from ? Very poor quality trick photography — actors studios and rear planted background with views of the lake, it was immediately visible trash. As in the scene of the play, penned Replevin, lions, eagles, partridges is a caricature puppets, it turns out.

Before watching the movie, the only session in the cinema, saw its low rating here. And would cost like to wonder whether to go Yes, I froze for a second. But then I remembered the marvelous Russian tradition to ridicule all the foreign adaptation because:

"no, so wonderful not may film classics as we, can these foreigners to feel our subtle soul. But here you remember some shaggy year, as played so-and-so actress — now what filmed? Yeah you saw music the background in the year have not yet have written, they do about us don't know of feeling not understand " and etc. and etc.

You know. If a work has crossed oceans, and has become internationally known, then just because found a response in the hearts and minds. People everywhere feel the same and the pain of unrequited love, and the wreck of ambition, and dreary monotony of life, from which I want to, but it is impossible to escape.

This film is proof. No, he didn't just work, or good — it's great! All and presentation and drama (there is no options), the performance of the actors. Especially Actresses. Praise Annette Bening or Saoirse Ronan, I think it is pointless, they are perfect, but all I was more impressed with Elizabeth moss (Mary), maybe because of the hopeless anguish of her character, but as she is passed!

More about the main, I didn't read "the Seagull", and do believe that write that would I watched, and not read. I'm not even know about than work. My experience of a movie completely impartial, and I was glad it goes hire as the opportunity to get acquainted with strong product, but the Czechs are a very strong writer.

Surprised his luck, as it is a study of Seagulls passed me on school? Here "the Cherry orchard", we were forced to read, with detailed analysis of what and why the author wrote. God, for in such a young age I have suffered? Why should teenagers read? What would appreciate most of the works of the school program — desired experience, which 15 years and no not be can! Never, not what I "the Cherry orchard" — to look I will!

What I all write if you are not a fan of Russian literature, and your impressions of "the Seagull" — not killed the school works, I this film is highly recommended!

As we know, the most important in movie — this is the scenario. It is the script that it bone the web. And the quality of the script of the imperishable — not kill no adaptation. Hitchcock believed that the movie is not a piece of life, and a piece of cake. In the works of Chekhov there any "brownies", it has a reality and biting painful for the I personally condemn, people need to give up hope. But even a hundred years later, human passions, his "the Seagull" does not lose its relevance.

The movie was great fun — as if the theatre was visited.

Surprisingly sloppy adaptation of the classic play by Chekhov, which, on first glance, had to respect the strong cast and beautiful nature, but, alas, in many respects disappointing. For starters, the authors have a very queer notion about how it looks like the Russian intelligentsia, or they are too literally embraced the feeling of Nina Zarechnaya about the inhabitants of the estate of Sorin, when life famous people does not different from the life of ordinary people. Arkadina here more often in places like the mistress of the brothel, Constantine always squeezes Nina at the corners leads to making out on the barn, Masha periodically tosses not that snuff, not that coke and Medvedenko from the Seeds are turned into Michael (probably to avoid unwanted associations with the word Semen). They play too uneven — from Saoirse turned pale Zarechnaya, Bening sometimes pinched, sometimes portraying something of the Julia Lambert, played it at the Theatre, a good only Billy hole in the role trepleva and Elisabeth moss, who played Masha.

The overall impression of the picture similar to a description of the game Nina in the final play, when a talent like visible, but all iterate the melodrama, "rough, tasteless and with howls", and running handheld camera, which often climbs the actors almost under the nose, the impression sometimes produces controversial. What most unpleasant, directed by Michael Mayer ("flick", "House on the edge of the world") having experience in the theater, not only deprived of the vision of "the Seagull" grace, he if not had no idea about how his offspring will look like on the screen. In the picture is like completely missing some kind of rod, it breaks into an indistinct individual episodes, not builds a clear storyline, allowing you to feel the drama of the characters, and just awkward jumps from heroes another his love problems and tedious to chew what was to be transferred to the acting and story lines. Perhaps those who work read and not the dramatic nuances, the picture will be of interest, but the impression is unlikely, because it is murky and unconvincing melodrama, just the outlines classics.
