1980. Two policemen Pedro and Juan, exiled in the wilderness because of criticism of the General in the real Madrid, forced to the marshes of the Guadalquivir, to investigate the disappearance of the two girls. As it turns out, the case is not isolated.

Not really, I obviously, what was the duration of this detective to carry on 35 back who will now close. Maybe the Director had in mind some Parallels with the current situation in Spain, not know. In the rest "Miniature island" of Alberto rodríguez, it can reasonably be called Spanish atmospheric double buddy movie "True detective" Cary Fukunaga youji. Yeah and they came as well one year. Those also marshes, swamps, destruction and heat. Here as tough murder "whodonit" and"the killer — the gardener", well, and two detective, different character. Except that in the Spanish case, all strictly. You are no rituals, chiranuch killers in a gas mask with a machete, powers, deduction, and a century of investigation. Just a bare skeleton — fitting in landscaping unwitting colleagues are studying a chain of random people and end the threads reach the right "personnel." Well, almost Agatha Christie. The relationship between the partners, contrary to expectations, also not say that much for me. One, the Juan, more alive, often thumps and not particularly no sorry about. However, slowly dying. Pedro also always gloomy and silent as McConaughey, all burawai look. No particular obstacles between them are not present, not can be — both what it is not all fell (Pedro house wife gestate a child) and police in a hurry sharply to reveal a murky business. Except that "gloomy" a little annoying past his partner, previously seen in the active administering to the recently deposed fascist regime of Francisco Franco. In as depth goes, but no which is not particularly leads have said. Movie, the however, strong and serious, Amateur long leisurely investigation should be quite like it. Unless something over and above can not to expect.

So historically: where the swamp, there and death, for negligence or violent (in the quagmire it is easy to hide the ends in water literally!). And so many "swamp" theme written and filmed detective thrillers, just don't count, from "the hound of the Baskervilles" to the least our "tiny island" (aka "Marshes"). All different, but similar to force determines the site of action...

... The Spaniards under  the"roof" and "Warner bras." he took the greatest thing I looked while in the best traditions of eurotrailer. And with a completely Scandinavian, but not know Spanish! Picture, say, long, but not plaintive drawling, smooth and a holistic, and therefore holds a constant voltage- "now something has to happen, and then more...". Solved it spatial: many leisurely panoramic driveways, long-range plans, sometimes impressively turning into a "krupnyakov" heroes and Vice versa. A particularly interesting and relatively new static site plans of actions taken from a great height in excellent quality. Lost in guesses how it was done: with high hovering of the helicopter with computer processing? Except that so... overall, camera and production work in  a"Miniature island" is perfect!

And everything else same level. A story that could be "stick" to any other country in the world, carries a distinct Spanish accents. 1980-th year. Country after the death of the dictator Franco (40 years had the helm!) finally gradually washed from the mud most long-lived in the world (!!!) of the fascist regime. And on the investigation of the "Bolotnaya case" in the provincial wilderness (or rather, in the marshes of the Guadalquivir river, which flows into the Mediterranean sea on the South-West of Spain - find on the map!) go two "guilty" from the heads of the detective's antagonist, one of which former Franco's "Gestapo", and the other as to "Democrat." If this film was shot in Hollywood, both our character-partner constantly would fighting with each other, fighting, name-calling and etc. the Spaniards were much more reasonable, not diverting our attention to empty squabbles and grasping breast (although one episode from the griping here, but it is artistically justified). Heroes-the cops know perfectly well that fist smashing each other's views do not change and they need to do the most important thing. Here they do, sharing except that the phrases like "look at new to you country." However, pay special attention to that both are still the "children" of francoism! Because of their police methods is similar: hit face pridushivayut recalcitrant witnesses, at this constraining each other. A small but very typical episodes. (By the way, I still not understand film, that the "d" fell in disfavor? Or missed item?).

... Briefly about the actors. I anyone they do not know, but play vital, significantly, not replay do not rush in a mega-star, and more of them not required - this is not "acting" movie. A couple of additions. As seen similar to the "shtetl" life, in the film are present and other "sinners" kind of cute poacher, petty drug dealers and etc. — required the entourage to the main action, which rightly also gave "a little play". Of critical observations: "Petite island" is a very terse film! It the characters speak-utter only the most necessary in a variety of situations by following the Golden rule "this man must be brief."

... Actually for I gave the film a rating of 7++, but it officially turns into

Spain, the beginning of 80-ies, two detective (Javier gutiérrez and raúl arévalo), as not particularly sympathetic to each other, come on a small island to investigate the murder of young girls. As residents if you know something, the police will have to plunge in the secrets of the area and find involved in a terrible crime.

The film was shot in traditional European slowness, characteristic of the Scandinavian countries. In the frame a lot of greyness, the bleakness that very similar to Spanish cinema. The however, the plot of "tiny island" holds attention. This history, shot Alberto Rodriguez, reminds me of the famous Thriller Schumacher's "8 mm". Only detectives in contrast Nicolas cage, investigating the murder of girls at fresh events. The police find out about the lives of victims, trying to find any clues that can help.

A classic detective story involves a constant confrontation between the two investigators, or they should be, on the contrary, best friends. In this film, the companions are cool enough friend to friend, at this each has its own methods of work. Some of the scenes concerning their investigate the interrogation of suspects and witnesses reveal the characters of the detectives. One — extremely violent, the other — ready to agree with a competent person for illegal means. At each of them wants to find the killer in that would any become.

Why a "Miniature island" was very highly acclaimed by film critics and the film Academy of Spain? Because the film has the intrigue, the actors play in they all of course not a falsehood. Yeah and the story itself makes you think about the cruelty of the world. Such crimes can happen in any country. Of course, the audience it is important to see who is the murderer, to understand its motives. The film is not a masterpiece, but it deserves the audience's attention.
