Hunger

The film tells about the struggle of prisoners from the Irish Republican army for the recognition of a political status. First, they are trying to achieve this, refusing to wash, wear prison clothes and otherwise throwing dirt in their cells. However, this tactic has not borne fruit: prisoners forcibly sheared and washed, while beating to a pulp. Finally, one of them was Bobby Sands decides to launch a deadly hunger strike...

Of reviews of the film have lot best those that are neutral. They seem to be the most objective. He Director evaluates the positive or negative actions of the character. And one reviewer even gave a negative assessment of democratic values if giving to understand that the values of dictatorship and tyranny better. It is clear that people appreciate films through the prism of their values. UK by the way gave an opportunity to Scotland to hold a referendum on independence in 2014. Scotland remained in the state there were peacefully.

Of any negative evaluations of the reviewers, like the ones condemn the violence, terror, and of the positive struggle of the Irish for their rights and of course the spirit of Bobby Sands, a fighter, a leader, sacrifice, Saint, Martyr, his obstinacy. Also liked that one reviewer writes that Bobby childhood was focuses on the role of the fighter — the struggle for him the meaning of life. And here is the intersection with psychology, in particular the theory of transactional analysis of life scenarios that people unconsciously choose to yourself want to embody. Bobby and other 9 dead prisoners brought their scripts in canonical, archetypal degree. To condemn them or admire them — not the most important thing I do not doing it is looking for part as artist an observer for the show played out on stage. The priest and the policeman that not began to take part in beating — was probably the most not involved with the characters, realize the horror of what is happening. All the rest fad participated in the events on one of the warring parties. People can be criminals Holy it depends on our view on what is happening in world events, we think up themselves, folding the facts in the desired concept. Hot heads are always assured of the right, that matter thought Thinking, Proving this proves. Neutral, the Shakespeare look like Steve McQueen, priest, or the guard gives to live through the actors on stage a dramatic, tragic play, hate to each other.

About the long shots, the lack of conversations — it's not documentary, not scientific and educational movie or transfer even a movie, not about morals — the objective reality of the silent — the man himself it fills. How looks corridor for the front door of your apartment? Tedious, but also really like your computer screen for you now, look. I think in prison, especially in prison in alone — reality, especially dulls their objectivity, and a fly flew into the camera can be event. If not fill the life in such conditions, meaning, for example struggle, protest, in max it's easy to go with mind. The film is not about prison dill, he raises semantic, existential layers of life.

The relationship of Northern Ireland and the UK do not developed a long time. Have the sixteenth-century was marked by the assignment of the Irish territories by the British, strongly emphasizing their power, military superiority and oppressing the indigenous people of unjust laws. Northern Ireland is part of the UK and this day...

The film tells us so on called the Irish hunger strike of 1981, which was, you might say, the culmination of the protest, which lasted for 5 years and taking its origins in 1976 when the British government refused to grant the imprisoned members of the IRA a special status of political prisoners.

Let's start with the style of narration, which then is quite specific. Slow and dark scenes are the basis of the film. They are wonderful show from the inside and convey the atmosphere that there reigns. Prisoners protesting. They do not wash, do not wear prison clothes and we strive to breed in prison dirt. This behavior gained the name "dirty strike". In the film paying huge attention to how to the prisoners is the prison staff. Revealing, in this respect, the moment was the examination of prisoners, which is first passed through the batons of the riot squad. In this time, even the air was filled with pain and fear(we can recall crying for the wall of the fighter of the group). Special attention should be paid to the scene of his conversation with Billy a priest. This first explains to the viewer the idea of the film.

The message behind the movie is obvious — show what man is capable of going for his people and country, as he is ready to sacrifice his life to become a Martyr for the sake of freedom. Knowing that will die as a result, Billy decided on this not afraid of the word, the deed, and in this is the power of the spirit, which soldiers IRA not to take. They are ready to go all for the sake of freedom of their country. Let me remind you that 16 prison employees were killed by activists of the IRA, also in the film there is a scene of murder of one of workers.

The film is heavy, especially shows us the part where Billy have not accept food. He exhausted, on the body sores, all he can — is to breathe. Thank you Steve McQueen for that showed us it in such tones, because it is a reality. The film is heavy, but true. The film is about the triumph of the spirit over the body. The film is about people who are willing to sacrifice themselves. The film is about the characters.

Summary

Everything in this film is good. And acting is not exception: hatred in the eyes of the jailers, contempt in the eyes of the prisoners, Billy, speaking in equal priest, then dying from starvation, literally on eyes. A tragic story based on real events, and comes with a great moral. Great movie, 8 out of 10.

After an incredibly mediocre, a lot about than speaking of the Director, but such favored "12 years of slavery" is not thought ever appeal to the works of Steve McQueen. But had been seduced by a Fassbender I saw "Hunger."

What I will say... Fassbender is good. In principle, it would be possible that and finish, but I guess for reviews this is not enough, so I will say a few words.

First of all, I don't think when watching movies, the viewer needs to be grounded in the main conflict. I have a very vague idea about the IRA to clarify their not going. The Director, however, wanting to present the film as the widest possible audience (or at McQueen does not have such a goal? Then no questions), was at least a bit to tell us that it is incredibly serious, important, momentous forces half-naked, long-haired, dirty, exhausted, depleted of men to live, spreading their feces on the wall. Strained and throughout the film, climbing in  the"Wikipedia", the spectator finally understands and already more than looking intently at the screen. And what if "Wiki" is not available? Then we see some prisoners, who were given for an unnamed misdeeds time, all the forces derive from the guards themselves, who are suffering from the sores obtained about the person of the same prisoners, forced to smell the stench of feces, forced to wash and cut kicking and screaming the curses of the prisoners and etc. and etc.

In silence the narrative before us static from the long plans that, in principle, good and gives documentary. Only here in the problem... Any plans, be they long or short, needs to be meaningful, about something talking, forcing, so to say, to feel the atmosphere. To unfortunately, the performance of all McQueen it looks extremely amateurish. Apparently, he had to show something, but is something happened. So, more than 5 minutes start in the end of the corridor the hapless security guard drives prisoners MOP the urine. When he it finally drove was that nothing was I wanted to turn off all to hell.

By the middle of the film there is a "guilty party", the highly anticipated Michael Fassbender, who plays a real character — fighter the independence of Ireland and the rights of political prisoners Bobby Sands. Not know what was the Sands on indeed. If so, how he was introduced to Michael, then this, apparently, was dancecostume, deeply fanatical people. After life in dirt and shit was ineffective, Sands decided to desperate — the hunger strike, which was to end in its demise. McQueen has delivered us from the process of self-flagellation Bobby and showed latest have in the final stage of exhaustion. Not wanting to spoil, let me just say that has leaked the hunger strike it is curious that caused a considerable surprise. Brightened up a convincing game Fassbender surprise was compensated by pleased by the lack of chatter: the Director gave the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in what is happening, to think and to think out its not focused on the hiss.

What ended the film does not difficult to offer. All what he saw brought me to only one question: "was there a sense everything that happened was worth it. the result which the end came ascetics?"

The answer to this question depends on a lot: moral qualities, political views, life experience, presence of children. For me the answer is clear — not worth it. Somehow it seemed that and McQueen the same opinions.

One of the advantages of the picture I note the scene with a crying commando Yes dialogue, Bobby with a priest. With the latter by the way, I totally agree: for its decision Sands will be punished by God for the stupidity.
