Somehow, reading the description, decided that it should be a fascinating Comedy. Nothing like that here, not been. Then realized in the declared genres of drama.

The at least this film very difficult to assess even as drama. Very boring, very grey, uninteresting dialogue, a strangely shot scene of the game. I'm not a fan of movies about the sport, although a couple of good still looked, and certainly not understand this film is so much appreciated.

Acting is decent, but that whether the Director screwed up with the staging of the dialogues, then they originally were so vague — unclear. Every time I've somehow lost the meaning of what said secondary characters the main character, especially the whole meaning of the claims of the teacher.

It was difficult to watch this film.

Did not like. Not recommended.

In a small rural farm town of Hickory (Indiana) at the invitation of the Director of school arrives and the coach basketball Norman Dale (gene Hackman). Norman Dale has 12 years didn't it is the only chance to return in basketball. Here only command a small school in the sticks is very weak, players are bad, what is discipline, training and real basketball, and the only strong player refuses to play basketball after the death of the previous school coach. In addition, the local population welcomes the visitor of the coach is very unfriendly. However, with the support of the teacher of Fleener Myra (Barbara Hershey) and local drunkards of Wilbert Fletch on the nickname "Shooter" (Dennis Hopper) coach Dale step by step creates a real command. The result is not make coming soon change constant defeats start to come victory and understaffed team of a small provincial schools conquering much stronger opponents, goes to the finale of Indiana, where they will be the hardest match in their life...

The first thing attracts that movie is the fact that the film is based on real history. And although the real story happened in 1954, and in the film the action takes place in 1951, but not least, the incredible story of school team of a small town in Indiana really was really. Of course, attracting in film cast. Gene Hackman in the role of a tough, demanding coach. Dennis Hopper in the role of well versed in the basketball drunkards son which is school team. On the Hopper you can stay separately, etc are the game is just incredible, especially like to mention the scene when its hero tries to quit drinking seriously to help coach with the team. Perfectly illustrates the confusion and nervousness of the person, in whose long no one believe (including his own son), and who suddenly blamed and expressed boundless confidence. Barbara Hershey played the emotional teacher genuinely loving their work and children and show them constant care and concern.

Well embodied the atmosphere of 50 years, starting with the appearance the clothes of the characters, to the entire interior and decorations. Yes, myself a small farm town where the action takes place, looks very colorful and expressive. He basketball, to unfortunately, looks not too interesting, but apparently so, and has been school basketball 50 years and the filmmakers have to sacrifice entertainment for the sake of greater realism. Of course, for 80 years this film was breakthrough the genre of sports dramas, but the time is not worth place in the subsequent came a lot more interesting and entertaining films on the topic of basketball, although "the Team of the Indiana state" and now looks with interest.

A good movie about basketball the basis of real history.

The history of the school basketball team from a small town in Indiana that was able to win the state championship.

Arriving in a small provincial town, at the invitation of an old friend and part-time school Director, in which only 64 students, Norman Dale begins to coach a basketball team. First, Dale's methods seem strange and inefficient, but it won success.

For basketball I are indifferent and why not know all the rules and the history of the game. But the lion's share of criticism from viewers of the that happened to read about that the film is full of inconsistencies — incorrect technical fouls and that the opposing team is not could play blacks, well that in basketball so don't play. In mostly accusations as I understand you were born because the film is based (I say "based") on the real events as in 50-ies of the provincial school team could win the state championship have more venerable rivals (sort of the story of Cinderella). Not bother googled the real story, the result was that it was expected. It also a feature film, not a real newsreel. The events in the film take place in 1951-52 year, the real event was in 1954. Indeed there are some inaccuracies and anachronisms, but I personally when you view the video absolutely not interfere even when they learned the feeling is not changed.

Yes, the film is the standard history of the series "American dream", but there is nothing wrong with that. These movies look great as entertainment movies, inspire and give the incentive that not all in this world and bad you can achieve success, even if no no chance. Exactly is this is the message of the film. A beautiful story that is even better will look at the man is not interested in basketball than the experts in this game. In I was pleased with the film.

The film is part of the top 10 American sports films and the top 100 inspiring movies in American tops American film Institute. So in the Bank at film 2 nominations  "Oscar" (male actor in a supporting role (Dennis Hopper); music).
