Cartel Land

This is a documentary Western, set in the 21st century. Two vigilante groups on both sides of the border fight with the evil Mexican drug cartels. Having unprecedented access to materials, the film provokes deep questions about lawlessness, the breakdown of order, the rights of citizens to resort to arms for protection against violence.

The film is about life. For life. From life.

Good documentary comes out pretty rarely. I have that the documentary, which tells the story of a relatively complete the problem showing her from different angles, views and beliefs.

My childhood dream to visit in South America, after watching the movie did not disappeared, it only overgrown concrete: I know where to be something to fear.

The people represented in the film or never actors: this is normal population is not the most developed in terms of infrastructure, Michoacan. And the authorities left them in fact, one on one narkodilerskuyu gang and their henchmen, turning a blind eye to many bad things. Here and the people decided to put an end to this outrage.

In the film shows that this solution — one day: just have a people are really grieved, and they decided for themselves, began to slowly push these ideas mass.

With other side we see that the resulting volunteer resistance groups can sometimes be no better active gangs, and residents it began to pay attention.

A separate thread in the film tells the story of American Ranger, patrolling the border of Arizona-Mexico, which can control the flow of illegal migrants across the border, going to this all responsibility. Have also there are reasons for this. And the word rendered as header, belong to him.

Most interesting and that the authors of the film such as even removed the footage of his conversation directly with drug traffickers. Not know about the reliability, but at least showed that way. And these people, too, can understand: "Here you eat good food, drive a good car and to have the same as you, us, in Mexico, or how producing selling drugs is impossible." It is also a valid point.

The film enjoyed great: sincere dialogues and reflections, realism, — all arguments that movie worth seeing. At least it is to know HOW people live, literally gnawing teeth to which most applies to take for granted. Appreciate what you have, friends.

Yesterday I was viewed third the account nominated in the category "Best documentary". Feelings after viewing had conflicting, so even the review was postponed for day that all met the head.

If you look with the perspective of social significance, of course, the film deserves great attention and so, clearly deserves to be nominated for the Oscar for only, perhaps, on the acute problem drew attention to the world. The film is a treasure trove of shots that a few years ago happened and still then going into Mexico wielded by drug cartels, who have taken to themselves the right to kill with impunity any not guilty people who do not follow rules. And the worst thing in that the government is in idle mode — pomaded President only and does to broadcast from the screens, nothing not to do. All see the lawlessness, but silent.

And then the common people, which loses its particles every day, speak with arms to stop this horror. Have they have a leader, good leader, fearless, ready to sacrifice their lives for the good of the people.

All this looks very noble, but the film reveals not only one side, then have no black white, no right to blame, because resistance, who took in hands the weapon itself is imperfect. It can also kill and Rob the innocent, and it can bring in favor of the basest passions and the promise of a better life.

In my opinion, the film — it is a cry for assistance, an opportunity to say that without people who are really fighting for justice the country, nothing happens. If some resistance will be at least a couple of rats, the common people never win. In the end everything looks hopeless, on my view, but it was still not the end. And I hope that, through the film, someone there, apex of power, will think. Because if you think about USA, it is unknown what will will better.

Along with a definite social significance and relevance, I want to unfortunately, mark, and significant disadvantages. In this case, the aesthetic component is not needed, most importantly — to show the truth, but the truth is need to show so to understand all, who watch the movie. In this case, it is difficult to do, because the film frequently switches from one no more specify the place of action, without refer to the actors and involvement the case, so often had to work hard in order to find out "red" this or "white", rather, it's the Templars, members of the resistance or the police. The narrative was fragmentary, signatures appeared rarely (and only in those cases when, according to the law of meanness, was so clear, who in front of us and where he is). Fortunately, that I looked one and we friend as if the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle together, sharing with each other their understanding, which was often the opposite of what about says a lot. This, of course, a huge gap, because if the purpose of the film — to that it is extremely difficult to do with such that directing installation.

Maybe I would more supportive if I have not seen the other nominees, in particular, "the Look of silence", where it was clear who, where and what. And not understand — we are still forced to empathize with the acute problem of genocide in Bali. I absolutely opposed to squeeze out the viewer's tears specifically, but it spontaneously flows when there is a clear vision of the problem and detailed interviews with the families of the victims. Here we casual showed the families of those killed, we just got charged with righteous anger, as next came a complete mess, where features a leg break, so:
